STEPHANIE R. - 5 STARS

I have read several books by A.L Hawke and I have never found anything to dislike. Harmonia is another tale that exceeded my expectations. Harmonia is a young wood nymph who had intentionally caused the fighting between the dwarves and nymphs- all over a pomegranate. Hades, Sara(Demeter), and Cora(Persephone) stopped the battle. Sara hated the wood nymphs. Sara killed all of Harmonia's family, despite Hades's disagreement. King Pangrin claimed banishing Harmonia would be a better punishment than death. They took Harmonia across the sea from Napea. While banished, Hades gave her Antilius. He also told her that she would be a queen. Hades wanted her to learn from a man. Afterwards, she was to return to her people and teach them what she had learned. Harmonia confronted King Karthra, claiming she was the Queen of Argos. He asked General Azerius if this was true. Azerius stated he had never heard this before. Karthara sentenced Harmonia to death. However, Antilius rescued her. She made her home near Crystal Lake and became the rumored Witch of Crystal Lake. She killed any man she laid with. Azerius found her and he was willing to give his life for one night with her. Somehow, he convinced Azerius that he was in love with her. He agreed to take her to Caravia. Therefore, he took her to his villa set in the cliffs below Caravia. He easily taught her how to wield his sword with skill.. Months pass by and Harmonia confronted Azerius. She wanted to join him when he went to Caravia. He claimed that her skin was blue and he would not take her to the city. When Harmonia told him she was pregnant, which was met by Azerius being distraught. He admitted he had a wife and four children already. He confided in Captain Hadrian about Harmonia's pregnancy. Hadrian told him to get rid of the nymph. Harmonia gave birth to Nephrea and was visited by Hades. He told her she needed to return to Napea. Likewise, Harmonia couldn't possibly fight a war to avenge her family with Nephrea present. Before Harmonia could decide, Azerius came to the villa with an army. His orders were to burn Harmonia and Nephrea. The hatred that Harmonia harbored for men was psychotic. Jaida and Nephrea recognized this and even tried to convince her to rethink her actions. Hades continued to encourage her destruction of man across Gaia. Personally, I don't think Azerius wanted to kill Harmonia. I believe he was genuinely in love with her. This is a tragic fantasy romance story that shows how hatred and power should never be mixed. It aided the vivid imagery I imagined with the exceptional details. Every character was well-developed and distinct in their thoughts and actions. There were never any dull moments to be found on any page of this book and I am happy to award a perfect 5 star rating.
