This was a fun read. I had not read the first book but the story is standalone. A psychic medical examiner is asked to help on a cold case. He arrives and ends up in the middle of a new investigation because he finds the body of a young girl. There is a serial killer that is killing people but there doesn't seem to be a pattern. There is a pattern and it involves mental illness and Native American folklore. The characters are well developed and the main character is a practically a superhero with several different mental powers as well as the ability to see ghosts. A quick and entertaining story. There are a few gross parts so i would not recommend it for children. The story ends so there is no cliffhanger.
